      <image:caption>Soma Therapy includes a gentle manual manipulation of the joints and fascia to bring fluid from the extracellular space into our cells, fascia, and joints to decrease inflammation and promote normalization of joints for the body to heal. Fascia (includes our connective tissue, ligaments, adipose tissue, tendons, and even our blood) often gets tight and restricted due to injury, dehydration and overuse. Many believe that fascia needs to be rigorously manipulated to change. Rigorous manipulation results in trauma and injury causing scar tissue to form. In actuality, fascia needs water and gentle manipulation. Fascia is made up of collagen, reticulin and elastin. Collagen moves water into your cells, reticulin forms scar tissue to repair our collagen tubules with injuries/trauma, and elastin provides fascia elasticity. Even though there is elastin in fascia, fascia does not stretch, fascia elongates and slides. When our collagen tubules slide, if we are hydrated, water osmotically flows into our collagen tubules. Water is an in-compressible fluid, allowing the space we create with soma therapy to be maintained (as long as we stay hydrated). The treatment results in normalization of the fascia, connective tissues, tendons, and ligament providing space for our joints to decompress, treating the root cause of our pain.</image:caption>

The pelvic bowl is made up of muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, nerves, organs, blood and lymph vessels. The bottom of the bowl, prevents the pelvic organs from falling out. The 3 levator ani muscles contribute to the anatomic muscular pelvic floor musculature. A chronic cough or sneeze, including those linked to asthma, smoking or hay fever. POOR POSTURE IS THE MOST COMMON COMPOUNDING FACTOR!  WEAKENED PELVIC FLOOR MUSCLES  Pregnancy and childbirth  Injury to the pelvic region including a fall, surgery or pelvic radiotherapy. Hysterectomy can weaken the structures in the pelvis. Not keeping the pelvic floor muscles active (POOR POSTURE) or overworking them (POOR POSTURE). A history of back pain (POOR POSTURE). Fives days after my adjustment I woke up with 4.5 years of chronic daily headache, occipital neuralgia, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and vertigo. Being a medical clinician, I thought I would have no problem navigating myself through a quick recovery. Oh, I could not have been more wrong… I saw more chiropractors, neurologists, TMJ and headache specialists, vestibular specialists, vertigo specialists, pain specialists and even a plastic surgeon that specialized in Botox for TMJ. I was put through nightmare testing, imaging, medication, botox and kenalog injections and traumatic chiropractic adjustments until in 2012 when I was introduced to an Osteopath who would save my life! The ELDOAs are 60 seconds of precise self-normalizing exercises that create healthy tension on the fascial line to decompress articulations (joints) in the body. I sought therapy with family therapists, energy healers, Ala-non, homeopaths, gurus, yoga therapists, psychedelic therapists and a shamin. I was an avid yogi who jumped into handstands. Why was this happening?</image:title>
      <image:caption>I don’t know why I kept fighting to find relief or a cure. It wasn’t because of my love for myself, family, or friends. Chronic pain is isolating and lonely no matter how my people you have supporting you. All I can say is that staying stagnant in my pain was way more painful than fighting to relieve it. My true fight began when a friend referred me to an osteopath, my hidden gem, Stefan Hagopian, DO.  This is when I was forced to really look into the mirror emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I was forced to take responsibility for my reactions, my behaviors, my thoughts, and my physical compensations.</image:caption>

I became a certified ELDOA™ trainer and ELDOA™ 1 teacher trainer with extensive continuing education in both Osteopathic manual therapy and cranial sacral therapy. I was finally able to “heal with my hands” including myself! It was during my training with Dr. Voyer that I was given an ultimatum. Guy told me if I didn’t start strength training and practicing ELDOA™️ I would not survive my neck injury, my scoliosis, and my hypermobility disorder. He prescribed me 17 ELDOAs and a six day/week strength training program. This is how I became who I am today!</image:title>
